Primavera Head Coach: Daniele Buzzegoli

Daniele Buzzegoli, the new head coach of the Primavera won on his debut in charge against Brescia, we caught up with him to understand his philosophy, background and the project at hand.

A former player for Empoli, Novara, Pisa, and Spezia, Daniele Buzzegoli, nicknamed Buba, started coaching immediately after he hung up his boots. First at San Donato Tavarnelle and then at Novara. Now there is only Como 1907: “I am very happy. Here, I have found an extraordinary working environment, with high quality facilities, a staff that is helping me a lot and a club that is giving me everything I need.”

He shares the same philosophy as new Caretaker Manager, Osian Roberts in ensuring that his players have all they need to succeed before they step out on the pitch and also wants to prepare them to play in the same style as the first team. “As Osh said in his first press conference you can’t get out on the pitch with them so you have to make sure they have a plan a, b and c so they are ready for any situation during the game and importantly I need to make sure that the boys are ready, if needed, from a technical-tactical point of view, to help the first team right away.

“The Primavera is of course very different from the professional game so I am getting to know it too. What changes is definitely the approach to the players, they still need moulding in terms of attitude and behaviour. A very challenging job because it’s such a big jump, here in Como even more so, because the level of the First Team is high. The difference is wide, there is work to be done to bring out all the qualities of the boys. Look at Rispoli: an extraordinary job has been done. Credit to those who worked before me.”
