Como 1907 signs 23 year old defensive midfielder and former German Youth International Yannik Engelhardt

Como 1907 has completed the signing on a three year contract of defensive midfielder Yannik Engelhardt from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 23 year old is a former German youth national team player with 10 caps under his belt.

Engelhardt joined Düsseldorf last summer from SC Freiburg and played a key role in Düsseldorfs impressive season, almost helping them back to the Bundesliga before narrowly losing out through a penalty shoot-out. The team also made the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal losing to eventual winners Bayer Leverkusen.

On bringing Yannik to the club, Cesc Fàbregas, head coach, said: “Yannik joins us following a very good season in Germany. His reputation as a player is growing. He brings a lot of energy and intelligence. We are excited to work with him and help to develop and grow with our team.”

On signing, Yannik said: “I’m very excited to meet all the guys. Meetings and talks with all the coaches and people in the club were very good. I’m very happy to be here and looking forward to getting better acquainted with everybody. I’m very excited to play in Serie A. I would love to enjoy the atmosphere in our stadium. I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans in our stadium and playing good football with my teammates. I’ll try to help the team achieve all our goals and be part of this great club. I’m also looking forward to experiencing the new culture in Italy, learning the language as fast as possible, and, of course, adapting to all the new things as quickly as possible. So, I’m very happy and excited to get started now”.
