Academy Corner: Filippo Galafassi

Filippo Galafassi, offensive midfielder of Como 1907’s Primavera team, scored in the away win against Spal, bringing his season tally to six, with three consecutive goals against Venezia, Cremonese and Renate. He told his story to Como Magazine.

He starts from his arrival at Como: “I started playing football at Masseroni, in Milan, when I was five years old, then in fifth grade the call came from Como and I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I stayed here even during the years of bankruptcy, I experienced many changes… and now everything is more modern, they think big. There is so much attention to detail: a young player can’t ask for anything better.”

The Fàbregas era with the Primavera: ‘Cesc taught us to never give up, to immediately pick up the ball once we lost it. We still carry his mentality with us. We are a great group also thanks to his work.”

Part midfielder, part striker, a versatile player: “With Fàbregas, I even played as a full-back! But I’ve always been a midfielder, David Bell put me in as a playmaker, I scored a couple of goals, then now I’m a bit more of a striker. I play with the number 10 and I know the importance of that number, it’s a big responsibility.”

“Ibrahimovic is my idol, I like his mentality. He has this huge ego that helps him to improve, he uses criticism as a stimulus. For the build I have, I would like to replicate his plays. Now my role models are Bellingham, Loftus Cheek, Milinkovic-Savic.”

“I study at a scientific high school, but I also enjoy humanities subjects. I play PlayStation, I like tennis and I cheer for Sinner and Berrettini. I love going out with friends. I have a girlfriend, I’m not that romantic, but we often go for walks along the lake, where there are lots of restaurants. It’s a very sweet and poetic place.”
