Academy Corner: Federico Chinetti

Federico Chinetti, is one of the latest Como Academy success stories. Fresh from signing his first professional contact the striker found the back of the net twice against Albinoleffe’s U19 in a 5-3 win for the Primavera. We caught up with him after the game.

“It’s been a while since I have scored, I have really missed the feeling. I hope now that the goals will keep coming. It was an even better feeling as I was wearing the captain’s armband for some games. A big responsibility, which I always try to live up to whether I am wearing it or not”

On signing his first professional contract:: “It was a huge thrill, I didn’t expect it either. I have to thank the whole club that allowed me to take this first step, I hope it can be the first of a long journey.

Although I have only been a substitute so far, just seeing certain players from the bench helps you learn.”

When not training or playing Federico loves being on the Playstation playing Fortnite and loves the NBA, with LeBron James and Davis’ Lakers as his favorite team. His footballing idol is Rafa Leao, a true source of inspiration for the young player alongside teammates Cutrone and Gabrielloni, and then Cesc Fabregas, his coach for a time in Primavera: “He was a great footballer, he will become a great coach, he gave the whole Primavera team something different, not only at the level of play, but also at the mental level. I want to thank him for that and the belief in me with the contract. Roberts is also a great coach, we met, we talked, he has the same ideas as Fabregas, as does our new coach, Buzzegoli. All perfect to help us young people grow.”
